نَحْنُ بابُ حِطَّة، وهُوَ بابُ السّلامِ، مَنْ دَخَلَهُ سَلِمَ ونَجا، ومَنْ تَخَلَّفَ عَنْهُ هَلَكَ۔
We are the door of ‘Ḥiṭṭah’ which is the door of peace; one who enters it is safe and secure, whereas one who turns away from it is destroyed.

(Ghurar al-Hikam: Muhammad (S) And His Progeny)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure and noble Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), and his righteous companions.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,
We are the door of ‘Ḥiṭṭah’ which is the door of peace; one who enters it is safe and secure, whereas one who turns away from it is destroyed.
Let us first understand the key words in this Hadith. The word "Ḥiṭṭah" refers to a protective barrier or a stronghold. It symbolizes a place of safety and security. The word "salam" means peace, tranquility, and harmony. It represents a state of well-being and protection from harm.
To comprehend the meaning of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 208:
O you who have believed, enter into peace completely and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
This verse emphasizes the importance of entering into peace completely, which aligns with the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). It implies that true peace can only be achieved by embracing the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and following their guidance. By doing so, one finds safety and protection from the destructive influences of Satan.
Furthermore, in Surah Yunus, verse 25, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states:
And Allah invites to the Home of Peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path.
This verse highlights that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) invites us to the Home of Peace, which is a place of ultimate tranquility and security. The Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) are the gatekeepers of this Home of Peace, and by following their teachings, we can attain true peace and salvation.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us that entering the door of peace, represented by the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), leads to safety and salvation. By embracing their knowledge, wisdom, and guidance, we are protected from the destructive forces that can lead to our downfall.
Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) possessed unparalleled knowledge and understanding of the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). His words and actions were a reflection of divine wisdom and guidance. Therefore, turning away from his teachings and disregarding his authority would result in spiritual destruction.
The consequences of neglecting the door of peace, represented by the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), can be seen throughout history. The Muslim Ummah has witnessed division, conflicts, and deviations when they deviated from the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). Conversely, those who have embraced their teachings have found solace, unity, and guidance.
As Muslims, it is our duty to seek knowledge and understanding from the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and to follow their example. By doing so, we can enter the door of peace and safeguard ourselves from the destructive influences of ignorance, deviation, and discord.
In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us of the importance of embracing the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) as the door of peace. By entering this door, we find safety, security, and salvation. Conversely, turning away from it leads to destruction. Let us strive to follow the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and seek their guidance in order to attain true peace in this world and the hereafter. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) bless us with the wisdom to recognize the door of peace and the strength to enter it.
