(Ghurar al-Hikam: Being Pleased And Satisfied)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

It behoves one who is pleased with the decree of Allah, the Glorified, to rely upon Him.

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of placing our trust and reliance on Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) when we are content with His decree.

Let us delve into the key words of this Hadith to gain a deeper understanding. The word (radiya) "رَضِيَ" means to be pleased or content, while (qadaa) "قَضَاءِ" refers to the decree or decision of Allah. The term (tawakkala) "تَوَكَّلَ" means to rely or depend on someone. Therefore, the Hadith is advising us that if we are content with the decree of Allah, we should place our complete trust and reliance on Him.

The Quran provides numerous verses that support the concept of relying on Allah's decree. In Surah Al-Talaq (65:3), Allah says,

And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him.

This verse highlights the fact that when we place our trust in Allah, He will be enough to fulfill our needs and provide for us.

Another verse that reinforces this concept is found in Surah Al-Anfal (8:2), where Allah says,

Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient.

This verse reminds us that Allah is always with those who patiently endure the trials and tribulations of life, and He will never abandon them.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) urges us to reflect on the consequences of relying on Allah's decree. When we trust in Allah and accept His decisions, we free ourselves from unnecessary worry and anxiety. We understand that everything that happens in our lives is part of Allah's divine plan, and He knows what is best for us.

By relying on Allah, we also strengthen our relationship with Him. We recognize that He is the ultimate source of guidance, support, and protection. This reliance on Allah deepens our faith and brings us closer to Him.

Moreover, relying on Allah's decree allows us to develop patience and resilience. We understand that life is filled with challenges and tests, and by relying on Allah, we can face them with strength and perseverance. We know that Allah's wisdom surpasses our limited understanding, and He will guide us through every difficulty.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of relying on Allah's decree when we are content with it. By placing our trust in Him, we free ourselves from worry, strengthen our relationship with Him, and develop patience and resilience. Let us strive to implement this teaching in our lives and trust in Allah's infinite wisdom and mercy. May Allah grant us the ability to rely on Him in all aspects of our lives.
