Hadith #4452

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

لايُذْهِبُ الفاقَةَ مِثلُ الرِّضا، والقُنوعِ۔

This Hadith can be translated as,

Nothing takes away poverty like satisfaction and contentment.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of the important words in this Hadith. The word (faqah) "فاقَةَ" refers to poverty or neediness. It signifies a state of lacking material possessions or resources. The term (rida) "رِّضا" means satisfaction or contentment. And [recall] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'

Similarly, in Surah At-Talaq, Allah states, (Quran 65:2-3)

And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect.

This verse assures us that Allah will provide for those who have taqwa (fear of Allah) and rely on Him. It emphasizes the importance of trust and contentment in Allah's provisions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) aligns perfectly with these Quranic teachings. It teaches us that true wealth lies in being satisfied and content with what Allah has bestowed upon us.
