Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

When Allah wishes good for a servant, He makes him learned in religion and inspires him with certitude.

This enlightening Hadith highlights the immense blessings and guidance that Allah bestows upon His chosen servants.

Let us delve into the meaning of the key words in this Hadith. The word (faqihahu) "قَّهَهُ" is derived from the root word (faqaha) "فَقَهَ", which means to understand or comprehend. In this context, it refers to deep understanding and knowledge of religion. The word (alhamahu) "أَلْهَمَهُ" comes from the root word (alhama) "أَلْهَمَ", which means to inspire or impart knowledge. It signifies a divine intervention that grants a person certainty and conviction in their faith.

To further understand the significance of this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah says in Surah Al-Qasas, verse 14,

And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us.

This verse emphasizes that Allah chooses certain individuals to be leaders and guides for the people. These chosen ones are blessed with divine inspiration and knowledge to fulfill their responsibilities.

In Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 7, Allah says,

And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but Allah has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief, defiance and disobedience. Those are the [rightly] guided.

This verse highlights the importance of faith being instilled in the hearts of believers by Allah Himself. It is through this deep-rooted faith that one attains guidance and righteousness.

Reflecting on the Hadith, we understand that when Allah wishes good for a servant, He grants them profound knowledge and understanding of religion. This knowledge encompasses not only the theoretical aspects of faith but also practical application in daily life. Such individuals become beacons of guidance for others, leading them towards the path of righteousness.

Moreover, Allah inspires these chosen servants with certitude, which is unwavering conviction and firm belief in the truth of Islam. This certitude enables them to overcome doubts and challenges, strengthening their faith and enabling them to inspire others.

The consequences of being granted knowledge and certitude by Allah are immense. These individuals become sources of guidance and wisdom for the Muslim community. They possess the ability to answer questions, clarify misconceptions, and provide solutions to complex issues. Their knowledge and certitude serve as a means of uplifting the ummah and spreading the light of Islam.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, exemplified the qualities mentioned in this Hadith. His deep understanding of religion and unwavering certitude in the face of adversity made him a role model for Muslims throughout history. His teachings and guidance continue to inspire and enlighten Muslims to this day.

As Muslims, we should strive to seek knowledge and deepen our understanding of religion. We should also supplicate to Allah to grant us certitude in our faith. By doing so, we can become better servants of Allah and contribute positively to our communities.

May Allah bless us with knowledge, certitude, and the ability to guide others towards the path of righteousness. May He make us among those whom He wishes good for. Ameen.
