Hadith #11292

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Three things cause [one’s] ruin: obedience to women, yielding to rage and submitting to lustful desires.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this wise utterance and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

Firstly, let us examine the key words in this Hadith. The word (ta'atu) "طاعَةُ" translates to "obedience" or "submission." It implies a sense of surrendering one's will to another. Similarly, the Quran repeatedly emphasizes the need to control our lustful desires. In Surah Al-Isra (17:32), Allah warns,

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.

This verse reminds us to refrain from indulging in illicit desires, as they can lead to ruin and moral corruption.
