(Ghurar al-Hikam: The Proof (Of Allah))

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

In this profound Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), he states that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) never leaves His servants without a necessary proof or an established, clear path. Let us delve deeper into the meaning of this Hadith and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

The word (khala) "خل" in Arabic means "to leave" or "to abandon." Here, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) never abandons His servants, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in. This highlights the mercy and care of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) towards His creation.

The term (hujjah) "حجة" refers to a necessary proof or evidence. It signifies that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) provides His servants with the necessary guidance and evidence to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood. This evidence can be in the form of divine revelations, scriptures, or the intellect bestowed upon human beings.

Similarly, the term (mahajjah) "محجة" refers to an established, clear path. It implies that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) provides His servants with a well-defined and easily recognizable path to follow. This path is based on divine guidance and serves as a roadmap for leading a righteous and fulfilling life.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for further guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 185:

Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship.

This verse affirms that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) does not burden His servants beyond their capabilities. He provides them with the necessary guidance and support to navigate through life's challenges.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-An'am, verse 153, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says:

And this is My path, which is straight, so follow it. And do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way.

This verse emphasizes the importance of following the clear path set by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and warns against deviating from it. It reinforces the idea that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) provides a well-established path for His servants to follow.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement in this Hadith serves as a reminder to Muslims that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has not left them without guidance. He has provided them with the Quran, the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (), and the wisdom of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ), who are the infallible guides for humanity.

This Hadith also highlights the importance of seeking knowledge and understanding the teachings of Islam. It encourages Muslims to reflect upon the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet () and the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ) to find the necessary proofs and established paths for their lives.

Moreover, this Hadith instills hope and reassurance in the hearts of Muslims. It reminds them that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) is always there for them, providing them with the necessary guidance and support. It encourages them to trust in Allah's wisdom and to rely on His guidance in every aspect of their lives.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds Muslims that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) never leaves His servants without a necessary proof or an established, clear path. It emphasizes the importance of seeking knowledge, reflecting upon the Quran, and following the teachings of the Prophet () and the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ). It instills hope and reassurance in the hearts of Muslims, reminding them of Allah's mercy and guidance in every aspect of their lives. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the ability to seek and follow His guidance.
