Hadith #8136

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

لاشَفيعَ أنْجَحُ مِنَ الاِسْتِغْفارِ۔

This can be translated into English as,

There is no intercessor more successful than repentance.

Let us delve into the meaning of the key words in this Hadith. The word (shafi') "شَفِيع" refers to an intercessor or someone who intercedes on behalf of another. It is someone who pleads for forgiveness or mercy for someone else. The word (anjah) "أَنْجَحُ" means more successful or more effective. And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
