Verily the fear of Allah is a provision and a place of return. It is a provision that takes one to his destination and a prosperous place of return. The best inviter has called towards it and the most heedful [of people] have heeded to it. So the inviter has told the people about it and those who have given heed to it are successful.

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of the fear of Allah as a provision and a place of return. Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this amazing Hadith and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

The word (taqwa) "تَقْوَى" in Arabic is often translated as "fear of Allah" or "piety." However, it encompasses a much broader meaning. Taqwa is a comprehensive concept that encompasses consciousness of Allah, mindfulness of His commands, and the constant striving to please Him. It is a state of the heart that leads to righteous actions and the avoidance of sins.

In the Quran, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the importance of taqwa. For example, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197), Allah says,

And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is taqwa. So fear Me, O you of understanding.

This verse highlights that while physical provisions are necessary for our worldly journey, the best provision is taqwa, which ensures success in both this life and the hereafter.

The Hadith further states that taqwa is a provision that takes one to his destination and a prosperous place of return. This implies that taqwa is not only beneficial in the hereafter but also in the journey of life. It guides us towards the path of righteousness and protects us from the pitfalls of sin and temptation. Just as a traveler relies on provisions to reach his destination, taqwa serves as our spiritual provision that leads us towards the ultimate destination of Paradise.

In Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13), Allah says,

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

This verse emphasizes that the true measure of nobility and superiority lies in taqwa. It is not based on wealth, lineage, or worldly status, but rather on the level of righteousness and piety one possesses.

The Hadith also mentions that the best inviter has called towards taqwa, and the most heedful have heeded to it. This highlights the importance of spreading the message of taqwa and inviting others towards it. The true callers to taqwa are those who embody its principles in their own lives and inspire others through their actions. They serve as a beacon of guidance, inviting others towards the path of righteousness.

In Surah Al-Imran (3:104), Allah says,

And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.

This verse emphasizes the duty of Muslims to invite others towards goodness and righteousness. By doing so, we contribute to the betterment of society and increase our chances of success in this life and the hereafter.

Finally, the Hadith concludes by stating that those who have given heed to taqwa are successful. This success is not limited to worldly achievements but encompasses true success in the sight of Allah. It is the attainment of eternal bliss and salvation in the hereafter. By cultivating taqwa in our hearts and striving to live according to its principles, we can attain this ultimate success.

To summarize, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of taqwa as a provision and a place of return. It serves as a guiding light in our journey of life, leading us towards righteousness and protecting us from sin. By heeding the call towards taqwa and spreading its message, we contribute to the betterment of society and increase our chances of success in this life and the hereafter. May Allah grant us the ability to cultivate taqwa in our hearts and strive towards true success.
