Hadith #5131

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Evil is concealed in everyone’s nature, so if its possessor overcomes it, it remains hidden and if he doesn’t overcome it, it is manifested.

This impactful Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the inherent nature of human beings and the struggle between good and evil within each individual.

Another verse that supports the concept of hidden evil within human nature is found in Surah Al-Qiyamah, where Allah says, (75:2-6)

No! I swear by the reproaching soul. Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? Yes, We are able [even] to proportion his fingertips. But man desires to continue in sin. He asks, 'When is the Day of Resurrection?'

This passage highlights the inner struggle of the soul, which desires to continue in sin despite the knowledge of the Day of Resurrection.
