Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure family, his noble companions, and all those who follow their righteous path.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ عانَدَ اللّهَ قُصِمَ۔

This can be translated into English as,

One who opposes Allah is crushed.

Let us delve into the meaning of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (opposes) "عانَدَ" in this Hadith refers to someone who goes against the commands and guidance of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It signifies rebellion, defiance, and disobedience towards the Creator. Such an individual challenges the divine authority and chooses to follow their own desires and whims, disregarding the divine laws and principles.

To understand the consequences of opposing Allah, we turn to the Quran, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) warns us in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 120:

And never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, 'Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance.' If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper.

This verse highlights the importance of adhering to the guidance of Allah and not succumbing to the desires and opinions of others. When one opposes Allah and follows their own desires, they lose the protection and assistance of Allah. They become vulnerable to the consequences of their actions and are left without any support or guidance.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal, verse 36, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states:

Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah. So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered.

This verse emphasizes that those who oppose Allah and His guidance will face regret and ultimately be overcome by their own actions. Their wealth and resources, which they used to divert people from the path of Allah, will be of no avail to them. They will be gathered in Hell as a consequence of their disbelief and opposition to Allah.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of opposing Allah. It highlights the importance of submitting to the will of Allah and following His guidance. When we choose to go against the divine commandments, we not only risk losing the protection and assistance of Allah, but we also subject ourselves to regret, defeat, and ultimately, punishment.

Reflecting on this Hadith, we should strive to align our actions and intentions with the teachings of Islam. We must seek knowledge and understanding of the Quran and the Sunnah, and make a conscious effort to submit ourselves to the will of Allah. By doing so, we can avoid the path of opposition and ensure that we are on the path of righteousness and success in this world and the hereafter.

May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) guide us all to follow His guidance and protect us from opposing Him. May He grant us the strength and wisdom to overcome our desires and submit ourselves wholeheartedly to His commands. Ameen.
