(Ghurar al-Hikam: Supporting The Truth)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of assisting Allah with our heart, tongue, and hand. Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this wise utterance in light of the Quran.

First, let us examine the key words in this Hadith. The word (ansur) "انصر" means to assist or support. It implies actively aiding and standing by the cause of Allah. The word (qalbik) "قلبك" refers to the heart, which symbolizes the innermost core of our being, encompassing our intentions, beliefs, and emotions. (lisānik) "لسانك" refers to the tongue, representing our speech and communication. And (yadik) "يدك" refers to the hand, symbolizing our physical actions and deeds.

Now, let us turn to the Quran for further guidance and understanding. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Hajj (22:40):

Those who have been evicted from their homes unjustly, only because they said: 'Our Lord is Allah.' And if Allah had not repelled some people by means of others, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is mentioned much, would surely have been destroyed.

This verse highlights the importance of supporting the cause of Allah and defending the oppressed, even if it means facing persecution and displacement.

Furthermore, in Surah Muhammad (47:7), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says:

O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.

This verse reaffirms the promise of Allah's assistance to those who actively support His cause. It assures us that when we stand up for truth and justice, Allah will provide us with unwavering support and stability.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a reminder that our assistance to Allah should encompass all aspects of our being. We must support His cause with our hearts by nurturing sincere intentions and unwavering faith. Our tongues should be used to speak the truth, spread knowledge, and advocate for justice. And our hands should be engaged in righteous actions, such as helping the needy, fighting against oppression, and promoting goodness in society.

By actively assisting Allah in these three dimensions, we align ourselves with His divine plan and become agents of positive change in the world. Our assistance becomes a means of manifesting Allah's mercy, justice, and compassion on earth. Just as Allah has promised to support those who assist Him, we can witness the fulfillment of this promise in our lives and in the world around us.

For example, when we use our hearts to sincerely seek Allah's guidance and support, we are more likely to make wise decisions and find inner peace. When we use our tongues to speak out against injustice and spread awareness, we inspire others to join the cause and create a ripple effect of positive change. And when we use our hands to help those in need, we become a source of comfort and relief for the oppressed.

Conversely, neglecting to assist Allah with our hearts, tongues, and hands can have detrimental consequences. It can lead to a lack of purpose, moral decay, and a society devoid of justice and compassion. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us as Muslims to actively engage in supporting the cause of Allah in all aspects of our lives.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us of the importance of assisting Allah with our hearts, tongues, and hands. It calls upon us to be proactive in promoting truth, justice, and righteousness in the world. By aligning ourselves with Allah's divine plan and actively supporting His cause, we can witness His promised assistance and become agents of positive change in our communities and beyond. May Allah grant us the ability to fulfill this noble duty and may He bless us with His eternal support.
