Hadith #4006

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

The steadfastness of religion is through the strength of conviction.

This beautiful Hadith emphasizes the importance of having a strong and unwavering belief in Islam. Let us delve deeper into the meaning of this Hadith and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

The word (thabat) "ثَباتُ" in Arabic refers to steadfastness, stability, or firmness. It implies remaining firm and unwavering in one's faith, despite facing challenges, doubts, or temptations. The word (quwwah) "قُوَّةِ" means strength or power. It signifies the inner strength and conviction that enables a person to remain steadfast in their faith, even in the face of adversity. This strength comes from a deep-rooted belief in the truth of Islam and a strong connection with Allah.

The word (al-yaqeen) "اليَقينِ" refers to certainty or conviction. It represents a level of belief that goes beyond mere knowledge or intellectual understanding. It is a state of absolute certainty and unwavering faith in the truth of Islam.

The Quran provides numerous verses that support the concept of steadfastness and the strength of conviction. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Anfal (8:46),

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.

This verse emphasizes the importance of obedience to Allah and His Messenger, which requires steadfastness and patience. It warns against engaging in disputes or arguments that can weaken one's resolve and diminish their strength.
