Hadith #5959

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

قَدْ أُمْهِلُوا في طَلَبِ المَخْرَجِ، وَهُدُوا سَبيلَ المَنْهَجِ۔

This Hadith emphasizes that people have been given a period of time to seek deliverance and have been guided to the clear and righteous path.

Let us delve into the meanings of some key words in this Hadith to gain a deeper understanding. The word (umhiloo) "أُمْهِلُوا" is derived from the root word (amhala) "أَمْهَلَ", which means to grant respite or give time. It signifies that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has given individuals an opportunity to seek salvation and make amends for their actions.

The phrase (fi talab al-makhraj) "فِي طَلَبِ المَخْرَجِ" refers to the pursuit of deliverance or a way out from difficulties and hardships. It highlights the importance of seeking a path that leads to salvation and liberation from the challenges of this worldly life.

Furthermore, the phrase (wahudoo sabeel al-manhaj) "وَهُدُوا سَبِيلَ المَنْهَجِ" emphasizes that individuals have been guided to the clear and righteous path. It signifies that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has provided guidance and shown the way towards righteousness and salvation.

To understand the enlightening message of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for further insights. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:186),

And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

This verse highlights the mercy and proximity of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) to His servants. It emphasizes that when we seek guidance and deliverance, Allah is near and ready to respond to our supplications.

Another relevant verse is found in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:69), where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.

This verse assures us that those who strive and make efforts to seek the right path will be guided by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) Himself. It reaffirms the idea that Allah has provided guidance for those who sincerely seek it.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us of the immense mercy and guidance of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It serves as a motivation for us to actively seek deliverance and follow the righteous path. We are reminded that we have been granted a period of time in this world to rectify our actions and seek salvation.

This Hadith also highlights the consequences of our choices. If we utilize the time given to us and sincerely strive for deliverance, we will be guided towards the clear and righteous path. On the other hand, if we neglect this opportunity and fail to seek guidance, we may find ourselves lost and distant from the path of righteousness.

Reflecting on this Hadith, we should be grateful for the time and guidance bestowed upon us by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). We should seize this opportunity to seek deliverance and strive to follow the path of righteousness. Let us remember that Allah is always near, ready to respond to our supplications and guide us towards the right path. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the wisdom and strength to seek deliverance and be guided to the clear course.
