Hadith #8304

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "مُذيعُ الفاحِشَةِ كَفاعِلِها۔" This can be translated as,

The one who publicizes an immoral act is like the one who has committed it.

This impactful Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the gravity of spreading indecency and immorality.

To understand the deeper meaning of this Hadith, let us analyze the key words used. The word (mudhi'u) "مُذيعُ" refers to someone who spreads or publicizes, while (al-fahisha) "الفاحِشَةِ" denotes an immoral act or indecency. The word (ka fa'il iha) "كَفاعِلِها" means

Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.

This verse highlights the condemnation of those who hide or conceal the truth, as they contribute to the spread of ignorance and immorality.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:32), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.

This verse illustrates the concept of collective responsibility and the severe consequences of spreading corruption in society. It emphasizes the importance of promoting goodness and preventing evil.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith serves as a reminder for Muslims to be cautious of the impact their words and actions can have on others. It urges us to refrain from engaging in gossip, backbiting, or spreading indecent information.
