(Ghurar al-Hikam: Foolishness)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

Let us delve into the meaning of some important words in this Hadith. The word (humq) "حُمْقِ" refers to foolishness or stupidity. It signifies the lack of wisdom and prudence in one's actions. The word (dallat) "دالَّةُ" means audacity or boldness. It implies behaving in a disrespectful or insolent manner towards someone of authority or power. This verse highlights the importance of humility and respect when dealing with those in authority. It teaches us to approach them with a sense of humility and seek Allah's guidance in our interactions.
Furthermore, in Surah Al-Hujurat (49:1), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) advises,
O you who have believed, do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger but fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
This verse emphasizes the need to be mindful of our behavior and to avoid arrogance or audacity in the presence of authority figures. It reminds us to prioritize our relationship with Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ) above all else.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a practical reminder of the importance of maintaining humility and respect, especially when dealing with those in positions of power.
