Hadith #3318

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "سَبَبُ الفُجورِ الخَلْوَةُ" which translates to

The cause of immorality is seclusion.

This impactful saying of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of avoiding seclusion as it can lead to immoral behavior.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, let us delve into the meanings of the key words. (fujur) "فُجور" refers to immorality, wickedness, or transgression. And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.

Furthermore, in Surah An-Nur (24:27), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) advises the believers,

Do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome and greet their inhabitants. That is best for you; perhaps you will be reminded.

This verse highlights the importance of seeking permission before entering someone's private space, as it promotes respect for boundaries and prevents the potential for immoral actions that may occur in seclusion.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement serves as a reminder that seclusion can be a breeding ground for immorality.
