Hadith #11232

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ كانَ مُتَوَكِّلاً لَمْ يَعْدَمِ الإعانَةَ۔

This can be translated as,

One who puts his trust in Allah will never lose His support.

Let us delve into the exegesis of this thought-provoking saying of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) in the light of the Quran. The key word in this Hadith is (mutawakkilan) "مُتَوَكِّلًا", which means

one who puts his trust

or "one who relies" on Allah. This word signifies complete reliance and dependence on Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ), seeking His help and guidance in all matters of life.

The Quran provides numerous verses that emphasize the importance of putting our trust in Allah. In Surah Al-Talaq, verse 3, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him.

This verse reaffirms that when we place our trust in Allah, He becomes our ultimate source of support and assistance.

Another verse that supports the message of this Hadith is found in Surah Al-Anfal, verse 2, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient.

This verse highlights that Allah is always present with those who patiently rely on Him, providing them with His divine assistance and guidance.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement holds profound wisdom and practical implications for our lives as Muslims.
