Hadith #2631

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ عَمِلَ بِالْحَقِّ نَجا۔

This can be translated as,

One who acts upon the truth is saved.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this thought-provoking saying in light of the Quran.

The word (haqq) "حَقِّ" in this Hadith refers to the truth, righteousness, and the path of Allah. It encompasses all that is in accordance with the teachings of Islam and the Quran. Allah emphasizes the importance of acting upon the truth in numerous verses of the Quran. In Surah Al-Asr, Allah says, (Quran 103:1-3)

By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

This verse highlights the significance of not only believing in the truth but also acting upon it and encouraging others to do the same.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah states, (Quran 2:138)

And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth?

Here, Allah emphasizes the importance of not only submitting to Allah but also actively doing good deeds and following the path of truth.

The consequences of acting upon the truth are profound. When an individual aligns their actions with the truth, they attain salvation and success in this world and the hereafter. By following the path of righteousness, one gains the pleasure of Allah and earns His mercy and forgiveness. This leads to a life of peace, contentment, and spiritual fulfillment.

Moreover, acting upon the truth has a transformative effect on society. When individuals uphold the truth and act with integrity, it creates an environment of justice, fairness, and harmony. It promotes social cohesion, strengthens the bonds of brotherhood, and fosters a sense of collective responsibility.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his unparalleled knowledge and wisdom, highlights the importance of acting upon the truth in this Hadith. His words serve as a reminder to Muslims of the fundamental principle of Islam - that faith is not merely a matter of belief, but it must be accompanied by righteous actions.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us that acting upon the truth is the key to salvation.
