Hadith #7433

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Kullu wi'aan yadheequ bima ju'ilafeehi illa wi'aau al-'ilm, fa innahu yattasi'u.

This Hadith emphasizes the vastness and expansiveness of knowledge, stating that every vessel becomes constricted by what is put in it, except for the vessel of knowledge, for it becomes wider.

Let us delve into the essence of this Hadith by analyzing its key words. The word "wi'aan" refers to a vessel or container, symbolizing the capacity of an individual to hold and comprehend knowledge. "Yadheequ" means to become constricted or restricted, indicating the limitations that other vessels face when filled. "Bima ju'ilafeehi" means

Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees.

Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know?'
