Hadith #9156

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

ثَمَرَةُ الكَرَمِ صِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ۔

This can be translated as,

The fruit of nobleness is keeping ties with near relatives.

Let us delve into the profound meanings of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (thamaratu) "ثَمَرَةُ" refers to the fruit or outcome, while (alkarami) "الكَرَمِ" signifies nobleness or generosity. (silatu) "صِلَةُ" means maintaining or keeping ties, and (ar-rahimi) "الرَّحِمِ" refers to near relatives.

The importance of maintaining ties with our near relatives is emphasized in various verses of the Quran. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah An-Nisa (4:1),

And fear Allah through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.

This verse highlights the significance of maintaining ties with our relatives, as it is an act of obedience to Allah and a means of seeking His pleasure.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Isra (17:23), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], 'uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

This verse emphasizes the importance of being kind and respectful towards our parents, who are among our closest relatives.

Maintaining ties with our near relatives has numerous benefits and consequences. It fosters love, unity, and harmony within the family, creating a strong support system. It also strengthens the bonds of kinship and preserves the family heritage and traditions. Moreover, maintaining ties with our relatives is a means of fulfilling our social and moral obligations as Muslims.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, highlights the fruit of nobleness that comes from keeping ties with near relatives. This noble act reflects the character of a generous and virtuous individual.
