Hadith #10902

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

The cause of integrity of faith is piety.

Let us delve into the meaning of this enlightening Hadith and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

Firstly, let us understand the key words in this Hadith. The word (salah) "صَلاحِ" refers to integrity or soundness, indicating a state of righteousness and uprightness. O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

This verse emphasizes that the true measure of nobility and superiority in the sight of Allah is not based on one's lineage, wealth, or social status, but rather on one's piety and righteousness. It is the level of taqwa, or God-consciousness, that distinguishes individuals in the eyes of Allah.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Hujurat (49:14), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

This verse reiterates the importance of piety as the criterion for nobility and honor in the sight of Allah.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes that piety is the cause or foundation of maintaining the integrity of faith. Piety also serves as a source of guidance and protection, preventing one from falling into sinful behavior and harmful actions.

Reflecting on the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), we are reminded of the importance of cultivating piety in our lives. It is through piety that we can safeguard our faith and remain steadfast on the straight path. Let us strive to be people of taqwa, constantly seeking to improve ourselves and purify our hearts.
