— Imam Ali a.s.
(Ghurar al-Hikam: The Truth)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure and noble family, and his righteous companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "الحق أقوى ظهير" which translates to

Truth is the strongest supporter.

This enlightening saying of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the immense power and strength of truth in various aspects of life.

To understand the depth of this statement, let us delve into the Quran, the ultimate source of guidance for all Muslims. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the significance of truth and its superiority over falsehood. In Surah Al-Isra, verse 81, Allah says,

And say: Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart.

This verse affirms that truth is not only powerful but also everlasting, while falsehood is destined to perish.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal, verse 30, Allah states,

And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.

This verse demonstrates that even in the face of adversity, the truth prevails. The enemies of truth may plot and scheme, but ultimately, Allah's plan prevails, and truth emerges victorious.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement also holds profound implications in our personal lives. Truth is not only a moral virtue but also a guiding principle that leads to righteousness and success. When we adhere to the truth in our actions, relationships, and dealings, we establish a solid foundation built on integrity and sincerity. This, in turn, earns us the trust and respect of others.

Moreover, the strength of truth lies in its ability to withstand the test of time. Falsehood may seem appealing and alluring in the short term, but it eventually crumbles under scrutiny. On the other hand, truth endures and prevails, even when faced with opposition and challenges. This is beautifully illustrated in the life of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) himself. Despite facing numerous trials and tribulations, he remained steadfast in upholding the truth, which ultimately earned him the admiration and reverence of Muslims throughout history.

The consequences of embracing truth are not limited to personal success but extend to societal harmony and justice as well. When individuals and communities prioritize truth over personal interests and biases, they create an environment of fairness, transparency, and accountability. This is in line with the teachings of Islam, which emphasizes justice and truthfulness in all aspects of life.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)

Truth is the strongest supporter

serves as a reminder for Muslims to uphold and propagate the truth in all aspects of life. It highlights the power and resilience of truth, both in the spiritual realm and in our daily interactions. By aligning ourselves with the truth, we not only attain personal success but also contribute to the establishment of a just and harmonious society. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the strength and wisdom to always seek and uphold the truth.
