Whoever trusts in Allah is catered for and becomes needless [of others].

(Ghurar al-Hikam: Putting Trust In Allah)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,
Whoever trusts in Allah is catered for and becomes needless [of others].
This impactful saying highlights the importance of placing our trust in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and relying on Him alone for our needs and sustenance.
Let us delve into the key words of this Hadith to gain a deeper understanding. The word (tawakkala) "تَوَكَّلَ" means to trust, rely, or depend on someone or something. It signifies a complete surrender of one's affairs to Allah, acknowledging His power and wisdom. The word (kufiya) "كُفِيَ" means to be catered for or sufficed, indicating that Allah is the ultimate provider and sustainer. Lastly, the word (istaghna) "استَغْنَى" means to become needless or independent of others, emphasizing that when we place our trust in Allah, we no longer feel the need to rely on anyone else.
The Quran provides numerous verses that support the concept of trusting in Allah and relying on Him alone. For instance, in Surah At-Talaq (65:3), Allah says,
And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him.
This verse beautifully echoes the message of the Hadith, emphasizing that when we trust in Allah, He becomes our sufficiency and fulfills our needs.
Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal (8:62), Allah states,
And if they intend to deceive you - then sufficient for you is Allah.
This verse reminds us that even in the face of deception or betrayal from others, Allah is enough for us. When we trust in Him, He protects us and guides us through any challenges we may face.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) holds profound wisdom and practical implications for our lives as Muslims. Placing our trust in Allah means relying on Him in all aspects of our lives, whether it be our personal relationships, financial matters, or even our spiritual journey. It means recognizing that Allah is the ultimate source of all provision and sustenance, and that He knows what is best for us.
When we trust in Allah, we free ourselves from the shackles of worldly attachments and dependencies. We no longer seek validation or fulfillment from others, as our hearts find contentment in our connection with Allah. This trust in Allah also instills within us a sense of tranquility and peace, knowing that He is in control of all affairs and will guide us towards what is best for us.
Moreover, trusting in Allah empowers us to face challenges and adversities with resilience and patience. We understand that everything happens by the will of Allah, and He has a greater plan for us. This trust enables us to navigate through difficult times, knowing that Allah's wisdom and mercy are always at play.
In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us of the importance of placing our trust in Allah and relying on Him alone. By doing so, we find sufficiency and independence from worldly attachments, and we experience the peace and contentment that comes from knowing that Allah is our ultimate provider and sustainer. May Allah grant us the ability to trust in Him wholeheartedly and to seek His guidance in all aspects of our lives.
