Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

One who considers his religion to be precious, [the hardship of] this world becomes easy for him [to bear].

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of valuing and prioritizing one's religion, as it has the power to alleviate the difficulties and challenges of this worldly life.

Let us delve into the key words of this Hadith to gain a deeper understanding. The word (karuma) "كَرُمَ" means to consider something as precious, valuable, or honorable. It implies recognizing the significance and worth of one's religion. The word (deenahu) "دينُهُ" refers to one's religion, encompassing their beliefs, practices, and way of life. Lastly, the phrase (hanatid-dunya 'alayhi) "هانَتِ الدُّنيا عَلَيْهِ" means that the difficulties and hardships of this world become easy or bearable for the person who values their religion.

To further understand the enlightening message of this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286),

Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.

This verse assures us that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) does not place upon us more than we can handle. When we prioritize our religion and hold it dear, we are granted the strength and resilience to face the challenges of life.

In Surah Al-Hajj (22:15), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.

This verse highlights the importance of honoring and valuing the symbols and practices of our religion. When we hold our religion in high regard, we develop a deep sense of reverence and devotion, which in turn strengthens our faith and makes the trials of this world more manageable.

The consequences of considering one's religion as precious are profound. When we prioritize our faith, we develop a strong connection with Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and seek His guidance and support in all aspects of our lives. This connection provides us with inner peace, contentment, and a sense of purpose. We are no longer overwhelmed by the challenges and hardships of this world because we trust in Allah's wisdom and rely on His assistance.

Moreover, valuing our religion helps us maintain a balanced perspective on the transient nature of worldly affairs. We understand that the material possessions and temporary pleasures of this world hold no lasting value compared to the eternal rewards of the Hereafter. This realization allows us to navigate the trials and tribulations with patience, knowing that our ultimate goal is the pleasure of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his profound knowledge and wisdom, reminds us through this Hadith that when we prioritize our religion and consider it precious, the difficulties of this world become easier to bear. By valuing our faith, seeking guidance from the Quran, and relying on the support of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ), we can navigate the challenges of life with strength, resilience, and unwavering faith. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the ability to recognize the true worth of our religion and make it a priority in our lives.
