ظِلُّ اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ مَبْذُولٌ لِمَنْ أطاعَهُ فِي الدُّنيا۔
The shade of Allah, the Glorified, in the Hereafter is spread out for the one who obeys Him in this world.

(Ghurar al-Hikam: Obedience And Compliance)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.
The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,
ظِلُّ اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ مَبْذُولٌ لِمَنْ أطاعَهُ فِي الدُّنيا۔
This Hadith emphasizes the concept of divine shade in the Hereafter, which is extended to those who have obeyed Allah in this world.
Let us delve into the important words of this Hadith. The word (shade) "ظِلُّ" refers to a protective covering or shelter that provides relief and comfort. It symbolizes the mercy, blessings, and rewards bestowed upon the believers by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) in the Hereafter. The word (spread out) "مَبْذُولٌ" indicates the vastness and abundance of this shade, indicating that it encompasses all those who have been obedient to Allah in the worldly life.
To understand the significance of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 112:
Indeed, those who submit themselves to Allah and do good, they will have their reward with their Lord. And there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.
This verse highlights the promise of Allah's shade and protection for those who submit to Him and perform righteous deeds.
Furthermore, in Surah Al-Ghashiyah, verses 7-11, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) describes the Day of Judgment, saying,
Faces, that Day, will be radiant, looking at their Lord.
This radiant appearance signifies the joy and contentment experienced by those who have been granted the shade of Allah in the Hereafter. It is a reflection of their obedience and devotion to Allah in the worldly life.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of obedience to Allah in this world as a means to attain His shade in the Hereafter. It serves as a reminder for Muslims to strive for righteousness and to fulfill their obligations towards Allah and His commands. By obeying Allah and following His guidance, Muslims can secure their place under the divine shade, where they will find solace, tranquility, and eternal bliss.
This Hadith also highlights the profound knowledge and wisdom of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). As the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Imam Ali possessed immense knowledge about the teachings of Islam. His words carry great weight and significance, as he was known for his deep understanding of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ).
In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds Muslims of the importance of obedience to Allah in this world. It assures believers that their obedience will be rewarded with the divine shade in the Hereafter, a place of eternal comfort and tranquility. By reflecting on this Hadith and striving to obey Allah's commands, Muslims can seek His pleasure and secure their place in the shade of His mercy. May Allah guide us all to righteousness and grant us the privilege of His divine shade in the Hereafter.
