Hadith #2545

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ), and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states:

مَنْ أحَبَّ الذِّكْرَ الجَميلَ فَلْيَبْذُلْ مالَهُ۔

This translates to:

One who loves to be remembered with praise should give generously from his wealth.

Let us delve into the meaning of some important words in this Hadith. The word (dhikr) "ذِكْر" refers to remembrance or mention. It signifies being remembered in a positive and praiseworthy manner. The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

This verse highlights the importance and rewards of spending in the way of Allah. When we give generously from our wealth, we are sowing the seeds of goodness and multiplying our rewards. Those who spend their wealth [in Allah's way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

This verse emphasizes the importance of giving in both private and public settings. It encourages us to be generous in all aspects of our lives, without seeking recognition or praise from others. When we give sincerely for the sake of Allah, our reward is with Him, and we are promised protection from fear and grief.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith beautifully complements these Quranic teachings. It reminds us that if we desire to be remembered in a positive and praiseworthy manner, we should be willing to give generously from our wealth.
