Hadith #7660

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

المرء لايصحبه إلا العمل.

This amazing Hadith can be translated as,

Nothing accompanies a person [to his grave] except [his] deeds.

Let us delve into the depths of this Hadith and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

The word (mar') "مرء" in this Hadith refers to a person, an individual. It encompasses every human being, regardless of their gender, race, or social status. The word (sahib) "صحب" means to accompany or to be with. It implies that something or someone is present alongside a person throughout their journey in life. And finally, the word (amal) "عمل" refers to deeds or actions.

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of our actions and deeds in shaping our destiny, both in this world and the hereafter. It reminds us that when we depart from this world, we will not be accompanied by our wealth, possessions, or worldly status. Instead, the only thing that will truly matter and accompany us to our final abode are our deeds.

The Quran provides numerous verses that support the message of this Hadith. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Isra (17:80),

And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.

This verse highlights that our deeds will be the ultimate judge of our fate, and they will be taken into account on the Day of Judgment.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Zalzalah (99:7-8), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it. And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

These verses emphasize the precision and fairness of Allah's judgment, where even the smallest of deeds will be accounted for.
