Hadith #8278

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his family, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ عامَلَ بِالغَيِّ كُوفِيَ بِهِ۔

This can be translated to mean,

One who deals offensively [with others] is dealt with in the same way.

Let us delve into the profound wisdom contained within this statement and explore its implications in light of the Quran.

The word (ghayy) "غَيِّ" in the Hadith refers to offensive behavior or actions that are harmful, hurtful, or unjust. It encompasses acts of aggression, oppression, and transgression against others. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the principle of reciprocity, stating that those who engage in offensive behavior will ultimately face the consequences of their actions. And whoever transgresses the limits after this, for him there is a painful punishment.

And whoever comes with evil, he will be recompensed for it.

O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them.
