Hadith #6290

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "مَنْ بَغى كُسِرَ۔" This can be translated as,

One who oppresses is crushed.

Let us delve into the connotation of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (baghaya) "بَغَى" in this Hadith refers to oppression or transgression. It signifies the act of exceeding the limits, going against what is just and fair, and causing harm or injustice to others. It is important to note that oppression is condemned in Islam, as it goes against the principles of justice and compassion that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has prescribed for humanity.

And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah. And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

This verse highlights the obligation to fight against oppression and establish justice. It teaches us that oppression disrupts the harmony within the Muslim community and that it is our duty to rectify such situations by promoting justice and fairness. The consequences of oppression are severe, as Allah warns in Surah Al-Anfal (8:25),

And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively, and know that Allah is severe in penalty.
