Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Blessings and peace be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

The Qur'an is the better of the two forms of guidance.

This wise utterance emphasizes the superiority of the Qur'an as a source of guidance compared to any other form.

Let us delve into the important words of this Hadith. The word "Qur'an" refers to the divine revelation that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad () by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It is the ultimate source of guidance for all Muslims. The word "afdal" means better or superior, indicating that the Qur'an surpasses any other form of guidance.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we turn to the Qur'an itself for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185),

The month of Ramadan is that in which the Qur'an was revealed as guidance for the people.

This verse highlights the Qur'an as a divine guide for humanity, providing clear instructions and teachings.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Isra (17:9), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.

Here, Allah emphasizes that the Qur'an guides us towards what is most suitable for us in this life and the hereafter.

The Qur'an is not merely a book of guidance, but a comprehensive source of knowledge that covers all aspects of life. It provides guidance on matters of faith, worship, morality, social justice, and personal conduct. It offers solutions to the challenges we face in our daily lives and provides us with a roadmap to navigate through the complexities of this world.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement highlights the unique position of the Qur'an as the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims. It serves as a beacon of light, illuminating our path and leading us towards righteousness. By adhering to the teachings of the Qur'an, we can attain success in both this world and the hereafter.

The consequences of recognizing the Qur'an as the better form of guidance are immense. It compels us to prioritize the study and understanding of the Qur'an in our lives. We are encouraged to reflect upon its verses, ponder over its meanings, and implement its teachings in our actions. By doing so, we can align ourselves with the divine will and strive towards spiritual growth and development.

Moreover, this Hadith reminds us of the importance of seeking knowledge and understanding the Qur'an. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) was known for his profound knowledge and understanding of the Qur'an. His life serves as a testament to the transformative power of the Qur'an when applied with wisdom and insight.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the superiority of the Qur'an as the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims. It encourages us to prioritize the study, understanding, and implementation of the Qur'an in our lives.
