Hadith #6371

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "غايَةُ العِبادَةِ الطّاعَةُ۔" This Hadith can be translated into English as,

The goal [and purpose] of worship is obedience.

Let us delve into the significance of this Hadith by analyzing the important words and concepts it contains. The word (ghayah) "غايَةُ" refers to the ultimate objective or purpose, while (al-'ibadah) "العِبادَةِ" encompasses all acts of worship and devotion. Furthermore, in Surah An-Nisa, Allah states, (Quran 4:69)

And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions

This verse illustrates the immense reward and honor bestowed upon those who obediently follow the guidance of Allah and His Messenger.
