Hadith #8542

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Man taala fikruhu hasuna nazaru.

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of deep and prolonged thinking, as it leads to improved observation and perception. Let us delve into the significance of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word "taala" in Arabic means to prolong or extend. It signifies the act of stretching one's thoughts and engaging in deep contemplation. The Quran provides numerous verses that emphasize the importance of deep thinking and reflection. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Hashr (59:21),

Had We sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.

This verse illustrates that even inanimate objects, like mountains, would react with awe and submission if they were capable of understanding the Quran. It highlights the need for humans to ponder upon the divine message and derive lessons from it.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Imran (3:190-191), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], 'Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'
