Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states:

أغْبَطُ النّاسِ الْمُسارِ عُ إلَى الْخَيْراتِ۔

This can be translated as:

The most enviable person is the one who rushes to perform good deeds.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this profound Hadith in light of the Quran. The key word in this Hadith is (musar) "مُسارِ", which means "rushing" or "hastening." It signifies the urgency and eagerness with which a person should strive to engage in acts of righteousness and goodness. This word emphasizes the importance of not delaying or procrastinating when it comes to performing good deeds.

The Quran provides us with numerous verses that highlight the significance of hastening towards good deeds. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says: (Quran 3:133)

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous.

This verse encourages believers to rush towards seeking forgiveness from Allah and to strive for Paradise, which is the ultimate reward for those who perform good deeds.

Similarly, in Surah Al-Hadid, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states: (Quran 57:21)

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous.

This verse emphasizes the importance of hastening towards forgiveness and Paradise, indicating that those who rush towards these goals are truly blessed.

Now, let us reflect on the consequences and motivations behind rushing to perform good deeds. When a person hastens to engage in acts of righteousness, they demonstrate their sincerity and eagerness to please Allah. This eagerness stems from a deep love for Allah and a desire to attain His pleasure. By rushing towards good deeds, one not only earns the pleasure of Allah but also sets an example for others to follow.

Moreover, hastening towards good deeds also helps in overcoming the whispers of Shaytan and the temptations of this worldly life. When we delay in performing good deeds, we become vulnerable to the distractions and temptations that surround us. However, by rushing towards good deeds, we strengthen our resolve and protect ourselves from falling into sin.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, reminds us in this Hadith of the importance of being proactive in our pursuit of goodness. He encourages us to be among those who are envied for their dedication to performing good deeds. By rushing towards acts of righteousness, we not only benefit ourselves but also contribute to the betterment of society as a whole.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us the importance of hastening towards good deeds. It reminds us to be proactive, sincere, and eager in our pursuit of righteousness. By rushing towards acts of goodness, we earn the pleasure of Allah, protect ourselves from sin, and set an example for others to follow. May Allah grant us the ability to rush towards good deeds and may He make us among those who are envied for their dedication to righteousness.
