Hadith #6765

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

ما عَزَّ مَنْ ذَلَّ جيرانُهُ۔

This can be translated as,

He whose neighbors are abased is not honored.

In this Hadith, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of treating our neighbors with respect and kindness. To fully understand the depth and significance of this statement, let us delve into the Quranic teachings that support this principle.

And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah.' Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.
