Hadith #2642

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنِ اعْتَزَّ بِالحَقِّ أعَزَّهُ الحَقُّ۔

This powerful statement can be translated as,

One who seeks honor through truth will be honored by truth.

The word (i'tazza) "اعْتَزَّ" in the Hadith means to seek honor or to hold oneself in high esteem. It implies valuing and upholding the truth as a means of attaining honor and dignity. Allah says in Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13),

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

This verse highlights that true honor and nobility are not based on one's lineage, wealth, or social status, but rather on their righteousness and adherence to the truth. Those who prioritize truthfulness and righteousness in their actions and decisions are the ones who are truly honored in the sight of Allah.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Isra (17:81), Allah says,

And say: 'Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart.'

This verse emphasizes that truth is eternal and will always prevail over falsehood. Those who align themselves with the truth and seek honor through it will ultimately be honored by the truth itself. Their actions and words will be guided by the divine truth, and they will be blessed with success and dignity in this world and the hereafter.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his unparalleled knowledge and wisdom, exemplified seeking honor through truth throughout his life. He was renowned for his unwavering commitment to justice, honesty, and righteousness. His knowledge of the Quran and his deep understanding of the truth guided his every action and decision.
