Hadith #9123

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

There is no trustworthiness in an incessant liar and there is no safeguarding [from sin] in the morally corrupt.

This profound statement emphasizes the importance of truthfulness and moral integrity in the life of a Muslim.

Let us delve deeper into the key words of this Hadith. The word (kadhub) "كَذُوب" refers to someone who habitually lies, continuously deceiving others. This person lacks trustworthiness and reliability, as their words cannot be relied upon. The word (amanah) "أمانَة" means trust or responsibility. It encompasses the duty to fulfill one's promises, keep secrets, and be honest in all dealings. The word (fajur) "فَجُور" refers to moral corruption, encompassing acts of immorality, indecency, and disobedience to Allah's commands.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Mu'minun (23:8),

Successful indeed are the believers, who are humble in their prayers, and who turn away from all that is vain, and who are active in giving Zakah, and who guard their private parts, except before their spouses or those whom their right hands possess, for then they are free from blame; but whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.

This verse highlights the qualities of successful believers, who are truthful and righteous in their actions.
