Hadith #10239

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "النَّصِيحَةُ تُثْمِرُ الْوُدَّ۔" This can be translated as,

Sincere advice reaps affection.

Let us delve into the significance of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (naseehah) "نَّصِيحَةُ" in this Hadith refers to sincere advice or counsel given with the intention of benefiting and guiding others. It is an act of selflessness and concern for the well-being of others. The word (tuthmiru) "تُثْمِرُ" means to bear fruit or yield results, while (al-wudda) "الْوُدَّ" refers to affection, love, and friendship.

The Quran emphasizes the importance of sincere advice and its positive impact on relationships. In Surah Al-Asr, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 103:1-3)

By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best.

By doing so, Muslims can effectively convey the message of Islam and guide others towards the path of righteousness. Sincere advice, rooted in wisdom and good manners, can have a profound impact on the hearts and minds of people, fostering affection and understanding.
