اَلتَسَهُّلُ يُدِرُّ الأرْزاقَ۔
Facilitating [and making things easy for others] makes sustenance flow abundantly.
— Imam Ali a.s.
(Ghurar al-Hikam: Facilitation)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.
The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "التَسَهُّلُ يُدِرُّ الأرْزاقَ۔" This can be translated as,
Facilitating [and making things easy for others] makes sustenance flow abundantly.
Let us delve into the meaning of the key words in this Hadith. "التَسَهُّلُ" refers to the act of making things easy, facilitating, or removing obstacles for others. It encompasses the idea of providing assistance, support, and guidance to those in need. "يُدِرُّ" means to cause something to flow or circulate, and in this context, it refers to the abundant flow of sustenance or provision. "الأرْزاقَ" refers to all forms of sustenance, including material wealth, spiritual blessings, and overall well-being.
To understand the beautiful message of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the importance of kindness, compassion, and ease in our interactions with others. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 286, Allah says,
Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.
This verse highlights the principle of making things easy for others and not burdening them with excessive difficulties. By facilitating and supporting others, we create an environment of ease and enable them to fulfill their potential.
Furthermore, the Quran teaches us that our sustenance is ultimately in the hands of Allah (تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَىٰ). In Surah Al-Hijr, verse 21, Allah says,
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision.
This verse reminds us that Allah is the ultimate provider, and He has the power to increase our sustenance. When we facilitate and make things easy for others, we are aligning ourselves with the divine will and inviting Allah's blessings into our lives.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the connection between facilitating others and the abundant flow of sustenance. When we go out of our way to help others, we create a positive ripple effect in society. Our acts of kindness and support not only benefit those we assist but also attract the blessings of Allah. By facilitating others, we foster an environment of harmony, cooperation, and mutual assistance, which leads to increased prosperity for all.
Let us reflect on the implications of this Hadith in our lives as Muslims. As followers of Islam, we are encouraged to embody the qualities of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), particularly his vast knowledge and wisdom. By understanding the significance of facilitating others, we can strive to emulate his example and make a positive impact in our communities.
In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us the importance of facilitating and making things easy for others. By doing so, we not only help those in need but also invite the abundant flow of sustenance into our lives. Let us strive to embody this principle in our interactions with others, creating a society characterized by compassion, support, and prosperity. May Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) bless us with the ability to facilitate and make things easy for others, and may He shower His abundant sustenance upon us all.
