Hadith #1590

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ نَصَرَ الباطِلَ نَدِمَ۔

This can be translated as,

One who supports falsehood, regrets.

Let us delve into the meaning of this statement in light of the Quran.

The word (nasara) "نَصَرَ" means to support, aid, or assist. It implies actively standing with something or someone, providing them with assistance or backing. The word (al-batil) "الباطِلَ" refers to falsehood, deceit, or that which is devoid of truth. It encompasses anything that contradicts the teachings of Islam and deviates from the path of righteousness.

To understand the consequences of supporting falsehood, we turn to the Quran, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) warns us about the severe consequences of aligning ourselves with falsehood. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah says, (2:141)

And never will Allah grant to the disbelievers a way [to overcome] the believers

This verse highlights that those who support falsehood will ultimately be unsuccessful and regret their actions.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states, (22:40)

And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might

This verse emphasizes that those who support the truth and align themselves with Allah will receive His support and assistance.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement serves as a reminder to Muslims of the importance of standing firmly on the side of truth and righteousness. By supporting falsehood, one not only goes against the teachings of Islam but also invites regret and remorse into their life.

Supporting falsehood can have various motivations. It may stem from personal gain, fear of societal backlash, or a lack of understanding of the truth. However, regardless of the reasons, the consequences remain the same. When one supports falsehood, they contribute to the spread of injustice, corruption, and moral decay in society.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) impactful saying serves as a reminder for Muslims to seek knowledge and understanding, so that they can distinguish between truth and falsehood. The Imam (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) was known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, and his teachings continue to guide Muslims today.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us of the importance of aligning ourselves with the truth and standing against falsehood. By supporting falsehood, one not only goes against the teachings of Islam but also invites regret and remorse into their life.
