Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states:

مَنْ أمَدَّهُ التَّوْفِيقُ أحْسَنَ العَمَلَ۔

This can be translated as:

One who is assisted by God-given success does good work.

Let us delve into the meaning of some important words in this Hadith. The word (tawfiq) "تَوْفِيقُ" refers to the divine assistance and guidance that enables a person to perform righteous actions. It is a blessing from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) that empowers individuals to make choices that align with His will. The word (ahsan) "أحْسَنَ" means to do something in the best possible manner, with excellence and perfection. And (al-amal) "العَمَلَ" refers to any action or deed.

To understand the wise message of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Qasas, verse 56:

Indeed, you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

This verse emphasizes that true guidance comes from Allah alone. It is through His tawfiq that individuals are able to perform good deeds and make choices that lead them closer to Him.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 148, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states:

For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces. So race to [all that is] good. Wherever you may be, Allah will bring you forth [for judgement] all together. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

This verse highlights the importance of striving towards righteousness and competing in performing good deeds. It is through the assistance of Allah's tawfiq that we can excel in our actions and race towards goodness.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, is teaching us that when Allah grants us His tawfiq, it is a sign of His favor upon us. This divine assistance enables us to perform our actions in the best possible manner, with excellence and perfection. It is not solely our own efforts that lead to success, but rather the guidance and support of Allah.

When we reflect on this Hadith, we realize that it carries profound implications for our lives as Muslims. It reminds us to seek Allah's assistance and guidance in all our endeavors. We should constantly strive to align our actions with His will, seeking His tawfiq to perform them in the best possible manner. This Hadith serves as a motivation for us to continuously improve ourselves and strive for excellence in every aspect of our lives.

Moreover, this Hadith also highlights the consequences of being blessed with Allah's tawfiq. When we are assisted by God-given success, our actions become a means of drawing closer to Allah and attaining His pleasure. Our good deeds become a reflection of our faith and a testimony to the guidance and support we receive from Him. This Hadith encourages us to be mindful of our intentions and to strive for sincerity in all our actions, knowing that it is through Allah's tawfiq that our deeds are accepted and rewarded.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us that true success lies in being assisted by Allah's tawfiq. It emphasizes the importance of seeking His guidance and support in all our actions, and striving to perform them in the best possible manner. This Hadith serves as a reminder for us to constantly seek improvement, to race towards goodness, and to rely on Allah's assistance in our journey towards Him. May Allah grant us His tawfiq and enable us to excel in our actions.
