Hadith #9975

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, and blessings be upon Muhammad (ﷺ) and his purified progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, as well as his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "كُلُّ مُتَوَقَّع آت۔" which translates to

Every expected thing [eventually] arrives.

This concise statement holds profound wisdom and can be analyzed in light of the Quran to gain a deeper understanding.

The word (mutawaqqa') "مُتَوَقَّع" in this Hadith refers to something that is anticipated or expected. It implies that every event or outcome that is awaited will eventually come to pass. This can be understood as a reminder of the inevitability of the fulfillment of our hopes and expectations, whether they are positive or negative.

To further comprehend the meaning of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Yunus (10:107),

And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good - then He is over all things competent.

This verse emphasizes that whatever we anticipate, whether it is hardship or blessings, will come to pass according to Allah's decree.

Additionally, in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:2), Allah (تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Do the people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe' and they will not be tried?

This verse reminds us that trials and challenges are an integral part of life. Therefore, when we anticipate difficulties, we should remember that they are inevitable and serve a purpose in our spiritual growth and development.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) encourages us to have patience and trust in Allah's plan.
