Hadith #1763

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his righteous companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Every bliss other than Paradise is derisory.

This enlightening Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the insignificance of all worldly pleasures and comforts when compared to the eternal bliss of Paradise.

Let us delve into the key words of this Hadith to gain a deeper understanding. The word (na'eem) "نَعِيم" refers to blessings, delights, or pleasures. And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.

This verse reminds us that the pleasures and luxuries of this world are temporary and fleeting. They may bring temporary satisfaction, but they ultimately wither away and are dispersed like dry remnants.

Another verse that supports the message of this Hadith is found in Surah Al-Imran (3:185), where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.

This verse reminds us that the true reward and fulfillment await us in the Hereafter. The pleasures of this world are merely illusory and deceptive, as they distract us from the ultimate purpose of our existence.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement serves as a powerful reminder to Muslims that we should not become attached to the transient pleasures of this world. Instead, we should focus our efforts on attaining the everlasting bliss of Paradise. By recognizing the insignificance of worldly pleasures, we can redirect our priorities towards seeking the pleasure of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and striving for righteous deeds.
