Hadith #9530

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

الْمَرْءُ مَخْبُوءٌ تَحْتَ لِسَانِهِ

which translates to

A person is hidden under his tongue.

This impactful saying of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the immense power and influence that our words possess.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, let us delve into the meanings of the key words. "الْمَرْءُ" refers to an individual, emphasizing the personal responsibility each Muslim holds. Not a word does he utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Qalam (68:10), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) warns,

Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
