One who is ignorant of [a branch of] knowledge is hostile towards it.
مَنْ جَهِلَ عِلْماً عاداهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who does not know where he is placing his foot, trips.
مَنْ جَهِلَ مَوْضِعَ قَدَمِهِ زَلَّ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is ignorant makes many blunders.
مَنْ جَهِلَ كَثُرَ عِثارُهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is ignorant becomes self-conceited; and his ‘today’ is worse than his ‘yesterday’.
مَنْ جَهِلَ اغْتَرَّ بِنَفْسِهِ وَكانَ يَوْمُهُ شَرّاً مِنْ أمْسِهِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
It is from the nature of the ignorant to get angry quickly, in every situation.
مِنْ طَبايِعِ الجُهّالِ التَسَرُّعُ إلَى الغَضَبِ في كُلِّ حال۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
No one antagonizes the learned like the ignorant [do].
ما ضادَّ العُلَماءَ كالجُهّالِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Woe be to the one who persists in his ignorance and blessed is the one who realizes [his mistake]...
وَيْلٌ لِمَنْ تَمادى في جَهْلِهِ، وطُوبى لِمَنْ عَقَلَ واهْتَدى۔

There is no independence for an ignorant person.
لاغِنى لِجاهِل۔

The ignorant one is not seen to be anything but immoderate (or excessive).
لايُرَى الجاهِلُ إلاّ مُفَرِّطاً (مُفْرِطاً)۔

Nothing restrains the foolish except the edge of a sword.
لايَرْدَعُ الجَهُولَ إلاّ حَدُّ الحُسامِ۔

Disobey the ignorant and you will be safe.
إعْصِ الجاهِلَ تَسْلَمْ۔
