Vigilance in religion is a blessing for the one whom it is bestowed upon.
—Ghurar al-Hikam
Alertness is illumination, negligence is delusion.
—Ghurar al-Hikam
Alertness is perspicacity.
—Ghurar al-Hikam
Indeed you have been alerted so become vigilant, and you have been guided so follow the guidance.
—Ghurar al-Hikam
One who does not take support through vigilance will not benefit from [the presence of] guards.
—Ghurar al-Hikam
Alertness is [a cause of] grief.
—Ghurar al-Hikam
Recover, O listener, from your stupor, and wake up from your heedlessness, and curb (or cut short)...
—Ghurar al-Hikam
Is there nobody who will wake up from his [slumber of] negligence before his time [on this earth]...
—Ghurar al-Hikam
