The best striving is that which is accompanied by [divinely granted] success.
خَيْرُ الإجْتِهادِ ما قارَنَهُ التَّوْفيقُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
You must be diligent even if you are not assisted by [good] fortune.
عَلَيْكَ بِالجِدِّ وإنْ لَمْ يُساعِدِ الجَدُّ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is diligent becomes fortunate.
قَدْ سَعِدَ مَنْ جَدَّ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Striving has been linked to achievement.
قُرِنَ الإجْتِهادُ بِالوِجْدانِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One whose diligence becomes weaker, his opponent gets stronger.
مَنْ ضَعُفَ جِدُّهُ قَوِيَ ضِدُّهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever embarks upon [any action with] diligence, overpowers his opponent.
مَنْ رَكِبَ جِدَّهُ قَهَرَ ضِدَّهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who employs diligence arrives at his goal.
مَنْ أعْمَلَ اجْتِهادَهُ بَلَغَ مُرادَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who strives with all his effort arrives at the core of his desired objective.
مَنْ بَذَلَ جُهْدَ طاقَتِهِ بَلَغَ كُنْهَ إرادَتِهِ۔

Striving is useless without accomplishment.
لايَنْفَعُ اِجْتِهادٌ بِغَيرِ تَحْقيق۔

Striving is useless without [divinely given] success.
