Stubbornness

Stubbornness causes its rider to stumble. اَللَّجاجُ يَكْبُو بِراكِبِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness gives rise to hostilities and kindles rancour in the hearts. اَللَّجاجُ يُنْتِجُ الحُرُوبَ، ويُوغِرُ القُلُوبَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is the most harmful of all things in this life and the next. اَللَّجاجُ أكْثَرُ (أكْبَرُ) الأشْياءِ مَضَرَّةً فِي العاجِلِ والآجِلِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Beware of blameworthy stubbornness, for indeed it provokes hostilities. إيّاكَ ومَذْمُومَ اللَّجاجِ، فَإنَّهُ يُثيرُ الحُرُوبَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is ill-fated. اَللَّجاجُ شُؤْمٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is the seed of evil. اَللَّجاجُ بَذْرُ الشَّرِّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness tarnishes the soul. اَللَّجاجُ يَشينُ النَّفْسَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is the provoker of hostilities. اَللَّجاجُ مَثارُ الحُرُوبِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness causes its rider to fall off. اَللَّجاجُ يَنْبُو بِراكِبِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is the symbol of destruction [and ruin]. اَللَّجاجُ عُنْوانُ العَطَبِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is followed by detriment. اَللَّجاجُ يَعْقِبُ الضُّرَّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness corrupts opinion. اَللَّجاجُ يُفْسِدُ الرَّأْيَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness brings to a person that which he is not in need of. اَللَّجاجَةُ تُورِثُ مالَيْسَ لِلْمَرْءِ إلَيْهِ حاجَةٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The fruit of stubbornness is ruin. ثَمَرَةُ اللَّجاجِ العَطَبُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The rider of stubbornness is exposed to affliction. راكِبُ اللَّجاجِ مُتَعَرِّضٌ لِلْبَلاءِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness is the cause of turmoil [and war]. سَبَبُ الهِياجِ اَللَّجاجُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Stubbornness may bring about that which a person is not in need of. قَدْ تُورِثُ اللَّجاجَةُ ما لَيْسَ لِلْمَرْءِ إلَيْهِ حاجَةٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no mount more insubordinate than stubbornness. لامَرْكَبَ أجْمَحُ مِنَ اللَّجاجِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
