The [one who is known to be a] incessant liar is suspected in his speech, even if his proof is... اَلكَذَّابُ مُتَّهَمٌ في قَوْلِهِ، وإنْ قَوِيَتْ حُجَّتُهُ، وصَدَقَتْ لَهْجَتُهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The incessant liar and the dead are similar, for indeed (or because) the merit of the living over... اَلكَذّابُ والمَيِّتُ سَواءٌ، فَإنَّ (لأنَّ) فَضيلَةَ الحَيِّ عَلَى المَيِّتِ اَلثِّقَةُ بِهِ، فَإذا لَمْ يُوثَقْ بِكَلامِهِ بَطَلَتْ... —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The furthest of all people from goodness is the incessant liar and the brazen-faced. أبْعَدُ النّاسِ مِنَ الصَّلاحِ اَلكَذُوبُ وذُوالوَجْهِ الوَقاحِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The liar is disgraced and humiliated. اَلكاذِبُ مُهانٌ ذَليلٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم A liar is at the brink of an abyss [of ruin] and disgrace. اَلْكاذِبُ عَلى شَفا مَهْواة ومَهانَة۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Your knowing that you are a liar suffices as a rebuke for lying. كَفاكَ مُوَبِّخاً عَلَى الكِذْبِ عِلْمُكَ بِأنَّكَ كاذِبٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no trustworthiness in an incessant liar and there is no safeguarding [from sin] in the... لَيْسَ لِكَذُوب أمانَةٌ ولا لِفَجُور صِيانَةٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who lies corrupts his magnanimity. مَنْ كَذَبَ أفْسَدَ مُرُوَّتَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who lies excessively is not believed. مَنْ كَثُرَ كِذْبُهُ لَمْ يُصَدَّقْ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who is known for lying, [even] his truth will not be accepted. مَنْ عُرِفَ بِالكِذْبِ لَمْ يُقْبَلْ صِدْقُهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One whose lying increases, his prestige decreases. مَنْ كَثُرَ كِذْبُهُ قَلَّ بَهاؤُهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who is known for lying, the trust [of others] in him decreases. مَنْ عُرِفَ بِالكِذْبِ قَلَّتِ الثِّقَةُ بِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who eschews lying, his words are accepted as true. مَن تَجَنَّبَ الكِذْبَ صُدِّقَتْ أقْوالُهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم From the disgrace of the incessant liar is his readiness to swear [that he is truthful] for one who... مِنْ مَهانَةِ الكَذّابِ جُودُهُ بِاليَمينِ لِغَيْرِ مُسْتَحْلِف۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The habitual liar has no shame. لاحَياءَ لِكَذّاب۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no good in the words of liars. لاخَيْرَ في قَوْلِ الأفّاكينَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no good in the knowledge of habitual liars. لاخَيْرَ في عِلْمِ الكَذّابينَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is neither any good in those who are habitual liars nor is there any good in dishonest... لاخَيْرَ فِي الكَذّابينَ، ولافِي العُلَماءِ الأفّاكينَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The liar earns three things by his lies: the wrath of Allah upon him, scorn of the people and... يَكْتَسِبُ الكاذِبُ بِكِذْبِهِ ثَلاثاً: سَخَطَ اللّهِ عَلَيْهِ واسْتِهانَةَ النّاسِ بِهِ ومَقْتَ المَلائِكَةِ لَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
