Treachery

Treachery by everyone is evil, but by those who have power and authority it is worse. الغَدْرُ بِكُلِّ أحَد قَبيحٌ، وهُوَ بِذَوِى القُدْرَةِ والسُّلْطانِ أقْبَحْ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Treachery increases the burden [of sin] and degrades one’s status. اَلْغَدْرُ يُعَظِّمُ الوِزْرَ ويُزْري بِالقَدْرِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Beware of treachery, for indeed it is the ugliest betrayal; and verily the treacherous one is... إيّاكَ والغَدْرَ، فَإنَّهُ أقْبَحُ الخِيانَةِ، وإنَّ الغَدُورَ لَمُهانٌ عِنْدَاللّهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The worst treachery is divulging the secret [that has been entrusted to you]. أقْبَحُ الغَدْرِ إذاعَةُ السِّرِّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Treachery is the quality of the wicked. اَلْغَدْرُ شيمَةُ اللِّئامِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Treachery multiplies [one’s] sins. اَلغَدْرُ يُضاعِفُ السَّيِّئاتِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Eschew treachery, for indeed it takes you away from the Qur’an. جانِبُوا الغَدْرَ فَإنَّهُ مُجانِبُ القُرآنِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The treachery of a man is a disgrace upon him. غَدْرُ الرَّجُلِ مَسََبَّةٌ عَلَيْهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Be one who acts with goodness, forbids evil and shuns the trait of treachery. كُنْ عامِلاً بِالخَيْرِ، ناهِياً عَنِ الشَّرِّ، مُنْكِراً شيمَةَ الغَدْرِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who acts treacherously is sullied by his treachery. مَنْ غَدَرَ شانَهُ غَدْرُهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم He who is certain about the place of [final] return does not act treacherously. ما غَدَرَ مَنْ أيْقَنَ بِالمَرْجِعِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم How appropriate it is for the treacherous one to be dealt with disloyally. ما أخْلَقَ مَنْ غَدَرَ أنْ لا يُوفى لَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no faith in the treacherous. لاإيمانَ لِغَدُور۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم With treachery, the companionship of a friend does not last. لاتَدُومُ مَعَ الغَدْرِ صُحْبَةُ خَلِيل۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Treachery with the treacherous is loyalty in the sight of Allah, the Glorified. الغَدْرُ لأهْلِ الغَدْرِ وَفاءٌ عِنْدَاللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Treachery is the worst of the two betrayals. اَلْغَدْرُ أقْبَحُ الخِيانَتَيْنِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The person who will face the quickest retribution is the man with whom you make a contract while... أسْرَعُ الأشْياءِ عُقُوبَةً رَجُلٌ عاهَدْتَهُ عَلى أمْر وَكانَ مِنْ نِيَّتِكَ الوَفاءُ لَهُ، وَمِنْ نِيَّتِهِ الغَدْرُ بِكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
