Well-Being

Good health is such that when it lasts, it is disregarded and when it is lost, its value is known. اَلعَوافي إذا دامَتْ جُهِلَتْ، وإذا فُقِدَتْ عُرِفَتْ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Verily well-being in religion and [in] this world is a great (or beautiful) blessing and a... إنَّ العافِيَةَ فِي الدّينِ والدُّنيا، لَنِعْمَةٌ جَليلَةٌ(جَميلَةٌ)، ومَوْهِبَةٌ جَزيلَةٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Well-being is the most pleasant of blessings. اَلعافِيَةُ أهْنَى النِّعَمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no life more pleasant than [life] with good health. لاعَيْشَ أهْنَأُ مِنَ العافِيَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no attire better than well-being. لالِباسَ أفْضَلُ مِنَ العافِيَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Every well-being is [headed] towards affliction. كُلُّ عافِيَة إلى بَلاء۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Well-being is the better of the two attires. اَلعافِيَةُ أفْضَلُ اللِّباسَيْنِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Through well-being, life becomes pleasurable. بِالعافِيَةِ تُوجَدُ لَذَّةُ الحَياةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The garment of well-being is the most pleasant of attires. ثَوْبُ العافِيَةِ أهْنَأُ المَلابِسِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Lasting good health is the most pleasant gift and the best portion. دَوامُ العافِيَةِ أهْنَأُ عَطِيَّة، وأفْضَلُ قِسْم۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Ask Allah for welfare [and safety] from the lustful temptations and the trials of this world. سَلُوا اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ العافِيَةَ مِنْ تَسْويلِ الهَوى وفِتَنِ الدُّنيا۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
